From particles to compact stars

- Describe stellar matter at subsaturation densities using relativistic hadronic models. - Study the effect of including chiral symmetry in the description of quark stellar matter and the possiblility of gamma-ray burst production due to the decay of metastable hadronic compact stars to quark stars. - Describe spin modes in nuclear matter under the influence of strong magnetic fields and collective modes in spherical hypernuclei within the framework of relativistic hadronic models. - Understand the pseudo-spin symmetry existing within Walecka type models, the importance of including short range correlations and a correct center of mass projection in the description of finite nuclei within the same formalism. - Obtain the amplitudes for the electro/photon-production of pions, using the K matrix formalism, in the low lying nucleon resonance region (delta, Roper). - Explore chiral quark-meson models to obtain dynamical properties of the nucleon (form factors, structure functions) to be compared with the new data mainly from JLab, Mainz, etc.
