Low-energy effective models and lattice QCD approaches to the investigation of chiral phase transitions and hadronic properties at finite temperature and density

This project combines lattice calculations and effective field theory techniques to investigate the behavior of strongly interacting matter. Several aspects of the restoration of chiral and axial symmetries will be investigated. Bearing in mind a new heavy-ion collision that is being prepared in the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR-Russia) Nuclotron, the properties of the scalar meson and the spectral functions for the scalar and pseudoscalar channels will be studied. Lattice calculations will be done to obtain both the gluon condensate and the gluon propagator at finite temperature (T), in their quenched and unquenched versions. Using these results we will look for a more realistic low-energy effective theory for QCD, which can provide new information about the restoration of chiral symmetry.
