Abstract: It was recently demonstrated (Dorotovic and Voros, 2004) that investigation of the non-Gaussian characteristics of magnetic turbulence in the solar wind (SW) and the occurrence of intermittent magnetic turbulence in the EarthÂ’s plasma sheet can illuminate the role of turbulence in the SW-magnetosphere interaction processes. In this respect a comparative analysis of the SW magnetic and plasma parameters with the time evolution of the geomagnetic indices is usually insufficient. In this paper, a wider statistical study of intermittency parameters (skewness, kurtosis) during coupling events in the period of 1996-2002 is presented.
